Exploration Trends of Global Important Mineral Resources

  • Global mineral exploration is facing challenges such as increased difficulty, greater depths, and a decline in major discoveries. Worldwide investment in important mineral exploration shows a fluctuating upward trend, with gold and copper attracting the most funding. Latin America remains the most active and stable hotspot for global exploration activities. Large mining companies and junior mining companies are the primary contributors, directing most of their investments toward advanced exploration, feasibility studies, and mine development projects. While the number of drill holes has increased in a step−like pattern, the proportion of ore−approved drill holes has fluctuated with a downward trend. Exploration drilling primarily targets key minerals like gold and copper, with activities concentrated in major resource−rich countries such as Australia and Chile. The number of major new deposit discoveries exhibits a fluctuating decline, with most finds concentrated in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and approximately ten resource−rich nations. Given the high importance placed on mineral resource exploration by various countries, the long−term outlook for global mineral exploration is expected to be positive.
