Abstract:
The industrial application of quartz is very extensive with huge usage and industrial output value, especially in the strategic emerging industries such as electronic information, new materials and new energy. Because the quartz is the material basis of the silicon industry and the raw material of key materials for chip production, it is a strategic non-metallic mineral. According to the purity of silica and its industrial application characteristics, quartz and related products are divided into three categories:
w (SiO
2) 99%±,
w (SiO
2) 99%~99.9%,
w (SiO
2) > 99.9%. Among them, the high grade product of high purity quartz with SiO
2 purity ≥ 99.998% (4N8) is a kind of mineral functional material and key basic material, which still needs to be imported from abroad at a high price at present. Quartz is widely distributed in nature with various causes. However, the quartz mineral resources that can be used for industrial applications mainly include 7 industrial types of ore deposits, including natural crystal, quartz sandstone, quartzite, vein quartz, powder quartz, natural quartz sand, and granite quartz. In China, the quartz mineral resources are abundant and spread all over the country. But so far, no high-quality raw material mineral resources of high purity quartz that can meet the needs of industrial production have been found. There is a close relationship between the industrial types of quartz deposits and their industrial applications. And how to develop and utilize quartz in accordance with the characteristics of different industrial mineral types has become the key point for the success of quartz raw material processing technology and its projects.
