Abstract:
Aragonite whiskers were prepared by carbonization method, lime as raw materials, which was pretreated and calcined from marble talings, and magnesium chloride as a crystal control agent. The phase composition and morphology of the samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy. The effects of temperature, MgCl
2 concentration, and lime dosage on the aragonite crystal content and the whisker morphology were studied. The results show that aragonite whiskers with a length of 40~50 μm, a diameter of 2~3 μm and a length-diameter ratio of 13~18 can be prepared when the temperature is 80℃, the concentration of MgCl
2 is 0.2 mol/L and the dosage of quicklime is 6 g/L.
